About us

LI Biz Blog is the official business blog of Long Island Business News — written, designed and updated daily by Henry E. Powderly II, David Reich-Hale, Michael Samuels and Ambrose Clancy.

David Reich-Hale – Editor

davidreichhaleweb.jpgDavid Reich-Hale joined Long Island Business News in 2004 and took control of LIBN’s multimedia efforts, which now includes this blog and two podcasts, in late 2006. As Web Editor, he ran The Flash Report, Libn.com’s twice-daily business update.

He was named editor of Long Island Business News in March 2008.

Previously, he worked at American Banker in New York City, Sen. Joseph Lieberman’s office in Washington and the New Haven Register in New Haven, Conn.

The Trumbull, Conn. native is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven.

Though Reich-Hale is happily married, has a wonderful three-year old boy, baby girl and has a strong relationship with his parents, he still hopes former North Fork Bank chief John Adam Kanas adopts him.

Contact him by e-mail at david.reich-hale@libn.com or libnwebeditor@gmail.com. He can also be reached at (631) 913-4241.

Henry E. Powderly II – Web Editor

Henry got his college start at Manhattan School of Music, where he studied jazz saxophone and composition before transferring to the State University of New York at New Paltz. There he earned a bachelor’s degree in English with a creative writing concentration.

While in college, Henry worked as a proofreader and freelance writer for Ulster Publishing, which publishes papersphoto-5.jpg New Paltz Times, Woodstock Times and Saugerties Times. Henry also worked at a print-on-demand publisher laying out books, creating covers from film and various other production tasks.

Henry also spent a few years as an assistant wine buyer for a retail shop in New Paltz and he has played music professionally in New York, Woodstock and many other locations in upstate New York.

Henry is constantly listening to music, which is why it is far easier to reach him by e-mail than it is by phone.

And he has a particular dislike for gabardine trousers. He thinks they are too … flowy.

To contact Henry e-mail him at libizblog@gmail.com or call, if you dare, (631) 913-4237.
