Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy will be hosting the first regional Energy Summit on Thursday, inviting elected officials, utility leaders, business leaders and environmental and energy advocates to discuss a cooperative plan for the region’s future energy needs.
In addition to Levy, the Summit will include Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, LIPA President and CEO Kevin Law and National Grid Executive Vice President Steve Zelkowitz.
The group will hold a roundtable discussion at 1 p.m. and come up for air at 2:45 p.m., when they will take questions from the media.
The summit comes after a contentious first half of the year between Suffolk County and Connecticut officials regarding the failed Broadwater Energy LNG proposal and also talks about the future of the Islander East pipeline.
The summit will be held in the 12th floor conference room of the H. Lee Dennison Building, 100 Veterans Memorial Highway, Hauppauge.
Great idea but the state should be included…certainly the region’s state representatives.
