The last we saw former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber, he was staring into his coffee cup while Joe Scarborough and Tim Russert talked presidential politics on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” television program.
Well, it appears Tiki, who had a short-lived stint on the fourth hour of the Today show after quitting football, has returned to the public eye.
This time, he’s helping Gov. David Paterson promote affordable housing, along with filmmaker Edward Norton and former New York Mets slugger Mo Vaughn.
From the governor’s release:
Governor David A. Paterson and Division of Housing & Community Renewal (DHCR) Commissioner Deborah VanAmerongen today announced a statewide Public Service Announcement (PSA) campaign to promote the continued development of affordable housing in communities throughout New York state. The PSAs are part of a larger campaign — Affordable Housing Works — which touts attractive and high quality affordable housing developments across New York state.
The PSAs began airing yesterday, July 14, on broadcast television stations and radio stations throughout the state. The ads which will run for four weeks feature filmmaker and green affordable housing advocate Edward Norton, former NFL football player and community developer Mo Vaughn. Additional ads will run in Spanish.
“Affordable housing is critical for the stability of our communities. It makes our communities stronger, businesses healthier and neighborhoods more diverse by providing our hard working families and senior citizens with viable housing options,” said Governor Paterson. “It is an important and successful economic development tool which is why my administration made an historic commitment to housing in this year’s budget.”
Good to see you back Tiki, especially dealing with an issue so near and dear to many on Long Island. Hopefully you’ll stick around on this issue longer than you did with the Giants. After all, how naked does your ring finger look right now without that Super Bowl bling?
Hey Tiki!
How about lending me that set of shoulders of yours, to get me past nay-saying politicians in Southern Mississippi, where I’m trying to build a house out of reclaimed aircraft hangar components and reused shipping containers?
You can read about it at;

It’s my attempt at providing “affordable housing” for my family, in a place hopelessly stuck in the early 20th century.
Just imagine all those politicians lined up against you are linebackers, and then… give ‘em one for me!
Good luck Tiki, we’re rooting for you! God Bless ya, buddy! (Even if you’re from NY!) LOL!
