Foodies and burger lovers, Suffolk is the place to be now.
Celebrity chef Bobby Flay today opened his first Bobby’s Burger Palace restaurant at the Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove.
The Food Network star’s restaurant will feature burgers, inspired by different regions in the United States, shakes and other burger-joint eats.
Here’s the press release, which describes the eatery in a way only a public relations machine can:
Sides such as French Fries served with BBP Fry Sauce (Bobby’s own blend of mayonnaise, roasted red and chipotle peppers, and spices) and Beer Battered Onion Rings along with Griddled Cheese sandwiches, Milkshakes & Malteds, sodas, beers and other alcoholic refreshments are available to create the ultimate BBP meal.
THE BURGERS
Ten signature burgers – including the Palace Classic Burger with American cheese, lettuce, tomato and red onion; the Dallas Burger spice crusted with coleslaw, Monterey Jack, BBQ sauce, and pickles; the Santa Fe Burger with queso sauce, roasted green chiles, and blue corn chips; and the Miami Burger pressed with ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, mustard and mayonnaise – are made with Certified Angus Beef and served on a soft potato bun.All burgers may also be prepared with ground turkey, chicken breast or served Topless, where the burger is simply stacked onto a bed of greens without the bun. For an additional dose of bold flavor, choose from the BBP’s selection of sauces, including Chipotle Ketchup, BBP Burger Sauce, Jalapeño Hot Sauce, Ketchup and Yellow Mustard.
GETTIN’ CRUNCHIFIED?
When dining at the BBP, Bobby reminds you to get your burger crunchified, which means top any BBP burger with crisp chips at no additional cost. “My side of chips always ended up in my burger, so developing ‘crunchification’ was natural; a burger’s overall texture is just as important as flavor,” says Bobby. “Plus crunchification is not only fun, but it’s also a great way to create the perfect burger, bite for bite, crunch for crunch.”Crunchified selections include the CrunchburgerÔ with double American cheese and potato chips. Beyond burgers, the Crunch Salad with chopped vegetables, romaine, crispy tortillas, white cheddar cheese and balsamic dressing is also available.
GETTIN’ THIRSTY?
With or without real whipped cream, 10 thick milkshakes and malteds in flavors such as Cola, Vanilla Bean, Dark Chocolate, Coconut, Mango, Black and White, and Blueberry-Pomegranate hit the spot during or after a meal at the BBP. Fountain & bottled sodas, freshly brewed ice tea and lemonade are also available to quench any thirst. For spirited refreshment, beers such as Bud, Sierra Nevada, local Blue Point Toasted Lager, and non-alcoholic Buckler; custom-blended BBP Red and BBP White wine-by-the-glass, and a frozen margarita, with or without salt, are also offered for enjoyment.
THE SET-UP
Designed by Rockwell Group, the 74-seat BBP is a nod to a classic burger joint, emblazoned with fiery red, bold yellow and vibrant green hues that Bobby is so known for. With vivid lime green leather bar stools for seating, the BBP is outfitted with a central serpentine resin-coated dining counter. Here, guests sit at the counter, socialize with friends and other patrons, while their food and drinks are quickly delivered. Bright and visible from the outside, the counter is echoed by a dramatic ribbon-like light fixture with brown, orange and yellow stripes. A floor-to-ceiling feature wall is a mosaic of wood, bamboo and bright green, brown and orange glass tiles. The BBP is located at 355 Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove, NY on Long Island. The restaurant is open daily from 11am to 11pm. Burgers range from $6.50 to $7.50; take-out service is also available.

Bobby Flays Burgers
Well I just ate there and had a terrible overall experience. First, you stand in line and order your food. Well they have 3 registers at the front desk area, but only staffed by one person. The line moves VERY slowly, and when it was my turn to order the cashier said I’ll have to wait awhile as the restaurant was very busy. I explained to him I don’t need a table that counter service was fine. So I place the order for my son and I,($27.00 for 2 burgers, 2 fries and soft drinks)and go wait. The way it is set up is you order, they give you a plastic number, you find your own seat and the waitress looks for you when the food is ready. This from a place that charges 27 for lunch. I don’t think many Long Islanders will come back for service like this, especially when you can have a larger and better meal at the other Smith Haven Mall franchise eateries.(Houlihans, TGIF’s,) Well the give you a glass bottle of soda but no cup of ice to keep it cold. They are afraid if you get a cup you’ll ALSO hit the fountain machine for more. So we waited about 20 minutes for the food and of course the drinks are now not cold. Food was OK…I had the Dallas burger, VERY SMALL for 7.50 and my sons burger was SMOTHERED in hot wing sauce and blue cheese making it IMPOSSIBLE to pick up. Do they give you forks to eat this mess with the food…NOPE…had to ask for that too. Fries were OK, nothing special. Once the waitress brings the food, she’s ghost as they are trying to hustle the food to all the tables and churn business. No water, no service? That was and will be my 1st and last visit to Bobby’s Burgers!
I just went to BBP for the first time and I found the food quality to be excellent. It was slow going (it was opening day) but once you were seated it was very fast service. It’s not Mesa Grill just a casual burger joint I loved it!! Way to go Bobby!!
[...] up, one step back on where to eat, Web editor Henry E. Powderly II suggested the recently opened Bobby’s Burger Palace. BBP is owned by celebrity chef Bobby Flay, who has been slinging American drive-in/diner fare at [...]
I just had dinner at the new Bobby Flay place. If you like hocky pucks for dinner the go there it was the worst the place is 3 week old and there were 3 broken tables. The soda area was full of used glasses and dirty no one even tryed to clean it up. I have been to some of his other places Mesa Grills in 3 difrent cities they were great but this Bobby LI people know better
Loved it…..Lighten up everyone, were talking about hamburgers. The atmosphere was fun and I thought the Angus meat as great. We loved his french fries and sauce and you can even have a beer or a glass of wine with your meal.
