Long Island is teeming with eateries, but they’re not all great. It takes a lot of trial and error — and a trusty Zagats — to choose the right one.
So here’s a another tool you can use.
East of NYC is a blog that focuses on Long Island restaurants, as well as retail stores, and features reviews, links to Google maps so you can get directions before you leave the house.
Here’s a sample, from their post on Wild Ginger in Great Neck:
Great Neck is a great North Shore town with one of the highest concentrations of restaurants and shops within a few blocks’ distance in the village center. At the Great Neck Plaza shopping center lies one of our favorite asian restaurants around. Two doors down from Cosi is Wild Ginger. All types of asian-inspired dishes pop up. Pad Thai, Dim Sum, Sushi and a clever mix of assorted entrees all make an appearance on their large menu. The atmosphere is perfect for a fun and trendy evening out with a group of 2 or 10. On our last visit we tried the Dim Sum Sampler, the Maki combination (wrapped yellowtail, tuna and salmon), Pad Thai and steamed Tofu with mixed vegetables. With the warm weather coming back to our area you’ll be able to dine at their sidewalk area tables. 516-487-8288
