One down at Spitzer’s chosen brothel

Temeka Rachelle Lewis pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to being the primary booker for former Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s online whorehouse of choice, Emperor’s Club V.I.P.
Lewis was charged with promoting prostitution and money laundering.
From the New York Times story:
Ms. Lewis could face a prison sentence of up to 25 years when she is sentenced on Aug. 10, although federal sentencing guidelines allow for a much shorter term.
As part of her plea, she signed an agreement with the government to testify, if asked, before a federal grand jury in Manhattan that is investigating the prostitution ring known as Emperor’s Club V.I.P.
Mr. Spitzer announced his resignation as governor on March 12, two days after reports that he was the man referred to as Client No. 9 in court papers filed in the case against the prostitution ring. He could face criminal charges, possibly stemming from transactions to pay for at least half a dozen meetings with prostitutes.
Ms. Lewis’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, declined to say whether Ms. Lewis knew Mr. Spitzer or would testify directly against him.
“Her agreement obligates her to testify, if asked,” Mr. Agnifilo said. “At this point we stand ready to receive direction from the government.”
Court papers filed in this case contend that Client No. 9 dealt directly with Ms. Lewis in arranging his liaisons.

Not for nothing, but the potential maximum of 25 years for this offense is absolutely ridiculous. There are murderers who don’t even get 2 years in jail….our legal system is really twisted sometimes.
Even more twisted is Mr. spitzer above the law or is this selective prosecution?
Spitzer conspired to launder money and promoted prostitution, so why does he get off scott free.
