Golf Magazine just released its Top 100 Golf Courses in the United States for 2007 and Long Island clubs scored a few spots on the list.
Here are the courses that made the cut:
- Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton was the highest scoring, placing 5th on the list. In 2005, the course was ranked 4th.
- National Golf Links of America in Southampton came in 10th. It was ranked 11th in 2005.
- The Fisher Island Club on Suffolk’s Fisher Island ranked 20th. It was ranked 17th in 2005.
- The famed Bethpage Black in Farmingdale ranked 21st. It was ranked 19th in 2005.
- Friar’s Head in Baiting Hollow ranked 22nd, a big leap from is rank of 41st in 2005.
- The Garden City Golf Club in Garden City ranked 32nd. It ranked 39th in 2005.
- The Maidstone Club in East Hampton ranked 39th. It was ranked 38th in 2005.
- Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton, which was designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus and architect Tom Doak in 2006 ranked 76th.
- Piping Rock Club in Locust Valley ranked 92nd. It was ranked 69th in 2005.
- And, lastly, the The Creek Club in Locust Valley ranked 99th. It was ranked 83rd in 2005.
Not bad, Long Island grabbed 10 percent of the list.
