The first woman president of the Long Island Rail Road, Helena Williams, was supposed to speak at the Long Island Association this morning. That’s why I got in my car at 6:45 a.m. and inched my way from Port Jefferson to Melville this morning. I got here at 8:30 a.m.
But I guess all of that flooding in the LIRR, which caused the Port Washington line to close, demanded the railroad president’s attention.
So … while I’m here I’ll give a few updates on the two other speakers who made it this morning; Alexander Grannis, commissioner of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and Astrid C. Glynn, commissioner of the New York State Department of Transportation.
David Reich-Hale is also here and has some LIA news on LIBN.com.
WAIT: Grannis got stuck in Queens. It’s just the DOT commish then.
