LI pols post phone sex hotline by accident
April 18, 2007 by Henry E. Powderly II
Of all the hotlines out there, a few Nassau politicians had to mix up the phone number to a sexual predator locator service with … a phone sex number.
Nassau Legis. Peter Schmitt and a few county government colleagues, sent out fliers to constituents that announced a new joint initiative between the county and Parents for Meghan’s Law, a not-for-profit organization devoted to stopping sexual abuse as well as counseling victims of such atrocious acts. The flier was meant to advertise a hotline that tells parents if sexual predators live near their homes. That number begins with 888, but the county printed 800 instead.
From the Associated Press story:
“Hey there, sexy guy,” a sultry recorded female voice is heard telling callers to the wrong number. “Welcome to an exciting new way to go live, one on one, with hot horny girls waiting right now to talk to you.”
Sorry.
